« Yes, it’s always disappointing to retire from a race, especially due to a collision. The car was performing well, and our goal was to score points, which I believe was possible. But we must not dwell on it; we have to keep moving forward. I continue to learn, by the way. « I won in GP2 in Turkey as well as secured the pole position and the fastest lap. So it is indeed a circuit that I know and where I have good memories. It will probably be easier for me to start my work weekend and to set up my single-seater.
Do you think that this famous turn number 8 will be much more impressive behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car?
« Turn number 8 is undoubtedly one of the most interesting corners on the calendar. It is extremely fast, and the driver is put to the test. I am not convinced that it will be more difficult to tackle behind the wheel of an F1 car; on the contrary, perhaps even easier because the cars have entirely different capabilities, particularly in terms of aerodynamic grip. But I am eager to see this from my cockpit, to be very honest! »
The team seemed to have made good progress this weekend. What will your objectives be in Turkey?
« We have made good progress, but there is still much to do. The whole team is well aware of it. I hope to continue my learning this weekend. Entering Q3 will be my first objective. To achieve this, I will need to work closely with my engineers from the first runs on Friday to fine-tune my car and find my bearings so I can approach this Grand Prix calmly. »
