Toyota Report – End of story!

Toyota is 5th in the Constructors’ Championship with nine points. This result in four races is not ideally what the Japanese team aimed for, as they were targeting third place at the start of the season.

The team is indeed still making some mistakes, and the race conditions conducive to confusion prevent the team from scoring valuable points at this stage of the competition.

In the end, Trulli scores the point for salvaged honor, but he, like Glock, is not satisfied with their weekend. Reaction to a gloomy outcome:

Jarno Trulli – 8th:

« Certainly, we scored another point here, but we could have done much better. The race wasn’t easy, but we could have aimed for 6th place. Unfortunately, a communication error in the pits led to my second refueling far too early. This costs us valuable points today. »

« We are still in a performance-level team group and we will have to work very hard to maintain a lead… »

Timo Glock – 11th:

« My start wasn’t good, and at the first corner, I lost two or three positions. Then, a car in front of me suddenly swerved and slightly touched my front wing. I lost aerodynamic performance and ended up staying in the middle of the pack for the whole race. When I came into the pit, we changed my wing, and it went much better, but with Coulthard, I lost it again. He left me a gap to pass, I went for it, and he swerved onto me there too… and that’s how I can summarize my race… »

Tadashi Yamashina – Senior Director:

« This 4th Grand Prix of the season was challenging both in terms of qualifying and during the race, yet everyone is giving their best! »

« We were on our way to a very good result but when Timo (Glock) had his accident, we had a confusion problem and called the wrong Toyota to the pit… We will analyze all this and the goal next time will be to avoid mistakes and achieve a good result. »
