Schumacher and the Mosley scandal

The seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher, visiting the paddocks of the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, commented on the scandal surrounding Max Mosley but focused his statements on the work that had been undertaken over the years by the FIA president.

Schumacher participates as a privileged spectator in his first race of the season. He addressed the press on Saturday afternoon but wished to avoid getting involved in the controversy surrounding Mosley.

« I know that Max is a professional and I am very grateful to him for this, » said the German in response to the question about the Mosley situation.

« I have always been careful never to comment on people’s private lives because I don’t like it when people do it about mine, » he added.

Schumacher worked with Mosley on driving safety issues since his retirement as a Formula 1 race driver at the end of 2006.

When asked if he was concerned about the sport’s image being tarnished by this scandal, Schumacher said: « I believe I have said what I wanted to on this topic and I have nothing to add. »

Mosley will face a vote of confidence after revelations about his private life.
