Report – Saturday – Scuderia Ferrari is the favorite

A fleeting fatigue or significant onboard fuel? In any case, Ferrari wasn’t present for the third free practice session. But like any great team, they know how to refocus during important moments.

And for good reason, Räikkönen is on pole after a fierce battle with Alonso, while Massa will be just behind and will start tomorrow from the 3rd row. The Scuderia could take the lead in the constructors’ championship for the first time this season as soon as tomorrow.

Kimi Räikkönen – 13th and 1st:

« I’ve been waiting a long time for a pole position and it has arrived, here in Spain, but for one reason or another, it has always eluded me. Today, I got it. So, I’m going to try to make the most of it tomorrow. It will be important to get through the first turn without any problems. Then, it will be up to the car to express all its potential. »

Felipe Massa – 9th and 3rd:

« I had a good lap with my first set of tires in Q3, but that was not the case on my second fast lap, especially in the last sector. So, I couldn’t improve my time. When the qualifying is as tight as this, the slightest little thing makes you lose or gain positions. »

« I think that tomorrow we will be very competitive, but we can expect a tough race. Anything can happen, but we must show what we are capable of to achieve the best possible result. We can rely on our car, which is competitive on long runs. This was the case last week in testing, but also yesterday. »

Luca Baldisserri – Technical Director:

« It was an incredible fight. Once again, we demonstrate that we pay particular attention to the smallest details as we are present in the top positions. For the race, it will be necessary to find a good rhythm over a fairly long distance. »
