Spanish GP – Q2 should be reached, according to Force India

If the objective remains the same for Force India, namely to reach Q2 during Saturday’s qualifying, it’s because after three races, the Indian team still hasn’t managed to do so.

The statements by Gascoyne, which somewhat overemphasized the benefits of the newcomer Fisichella, have caused some waves within the team. On the other hand, it is indeed the Roman who is currently keeping hope alive at Force India. Will Sutil be able to reverse the trend?

Giancarlo Fisichella – Racing Driver

The VJM01 seems to be making progress from race to race, and the tests in Barcelona have confirmed this very clearly. There is more grip overall, but it’s especially in braking where the difference is felt with greater stability.

« With new aerodynamic parts arriving for the Spanish Grand Prix, I am convinced that we can continue to make progress. I love this circuit, it is one of my favorite events, so if we drive well, I believe we have a chance to shine. »

Currently, our closest opponents are probably Toro Rosso and Honda, we always finish outside the points zone and we are fighting for the slightest small victory.

Adrian Sutil – Racing Driver

« Bahrain was a difficult race for many reasons. At the first corner, with Coulthard, we collided, I lost my front wing and I had a puncture. I was very disappointed, but the positive point is that I was able to finish the race. »

« Unfortunately, in the first three races, I wasn’t lucky, but if you look at our race pace compared to other cars, well, we were above. »

« We conducted very good tests last week, where we tried some new parts. Everything worked well, with an increase in grip levels and improved balance observed. We have a real chance to participate in Q2 in the qualifying on Saturday. »

Mike Gascoyne – Technical Director

« For this Spanish Grand Prix, we continue our aerodynamic development cycle with new parts. »

« Last week in Barcelona, we tested new suspension parts and the braking system. More broadly, the three days of testing were very productive with many laps completed. As proof, we note a significant improvement in our split times. »

« We are very close to Q2, which is our goal. We have also shown that we can be very competitive in the race. Ideally, it would be great to finish in the Top 10 and maybe even score a point. Overall, we arrive in Barcelona with good feelings. »
