Like all the other teams (except Super-Aguri), Williams took advantage of this break to test thanks to the Barcelona test week! Of course, changes have been made to the FW30 to improve its competitiveness.
The two drivers, Rosberg and Nakajima, are more motivated than ever because the former remembers the feeling of a podium he experienced just two races ago, a sensation he would like to taste again on Sunday.
Nico Rosberg – Racing Driver
« I am looking forward to this race weekend because we know the track well, so anything is possible. The car performed well during the winter tests, so it should behave well in the race. Furthermore, last week’s tests were promising. I took part in two days of testing, which should only be beneficial for the race. »
The only difficulty in Barcelona is that the track condition is constantly changing, which often pushes us to adjust our setup. Malaysia is already far away, but I sincerely hope that the result will be just as positive.
Kazuki Nakajima – Racing driver
« We made some updates to the single-seater for Barcelona, where we were last week for testing. These should result in a gain in pure performance. »
« Personally, I like the Circuit de Catalunya. I achieved a good result here when I raced in GP2 last year. I hope I will perform well for my first Spanish Grand Prix. My engineer, Xevi Pujolar, is Spanish, so it’s a home race for him and he should get us a good result! »
Sam Michael – Technical Director
Barcelona is a major test in terms of aerodynamic efficiency, engine power, and chassis balance. It highlights the strengths and weaknesses of the car, perhaps with the exception of the brakes, as they are used less on this circuit compared to others. There are many high-speed corners.
Bridgestone will provide two types of tires, medium and hard. The strategy tends to lean towards two pit stops.
« With the good reliability we have, our objective in Barcelona is to continue improving our performance and to score as many points as possible in order to consolidate our position in the Constructors’ Championship, but it will be a tough battle. »
