The Super Aguri team is currently facing the difficult situation it is enduring as the cars are on their way to Spain, the location of the next Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The survival of the Japanese team remains uncertain after the failure of a rescue project by buyers from the Magma Group, but the co-owner of Super Aguri believes it will be on the starting grid in Barcelona.
“I heard that the cars are currently being transported to Spain,” said Fumio Akita on Tuesday.
« Everything is on track, that’s the latest information I have. »
The team had already sent its spare parts by truck last Friday.
The participation of Super-Aguri in F1 this season seems to rely more and more on Honda. They have stated that they want to reduce the extent of their support because Honda has been providing engines for Super-Aguri for the past two years.
The small team has hardly done any pre-season testing due to financial constraints. Its late arrival at the Circuit de Catalunya this week has fueled rumors that the team is dead.
Super-Aguri, which has the smallest budget in Formula 1, finished ninth out of the 11 teams in 2007, but Sato and Davidson, the two drivers, have not scored any points this year.
