Sébastien Buemi has declared himself a serious contender to become a Formula 1 race driver in the near future.
The 19-year-old Swiss, currently a test driver for Red Bull Racing, who is training in GP2, revealed that he is in a ‘struggle’ to be selected as one of the official drivers for the team with the same name as the energy drink as soon as possible.
Referring to the current Red Bull Racing RBR drivers, he stated: « I’m fighting for their spot, and they are under pressure to keep it.
There is a very competitive atmosphere. But we remain very professional.
Buemi was speaking to the local press Jamaica Gleaner, as in a few days, he will be showcasing the merits of a Red Bull F1 car in the streets of the capital, New Kingston, Jamaica.
