The Renault F1 Team was back in Europe today to conduct the first of four scheduled test days at the Circuit de Catalunya, located near Barcelona (Spain). The team took advantage of excellent weather conditions to prepare for the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix.
Nelson Piquet was behind the wheel to evaluate the technical developments made to the R28. The Brazilian reviewed several configurations and began refining the settings on this demanding circuit.
The team will continue its program until Thursday. Fernando Alonso will take over for the next two days, while Nelson will get back in the seat for the final day.
Nelson Piquet: Another solid day of work for the team. The track conditions were good, we didn’t encounter any problems, and we had a productive morning. Unfortunately, I lost time in the afternoon and didn’t complete as many laps as planned. We tried several new things, but the most interesting work will only be done a little later in the week.
Christian Silk – Chief Test Engineer: « The morning program went very well, and we only experienced a slight delay at lunchtime. The car is running well, and the factory has done tremendous work to ensure it’s ready on time for these tests. We must now keep up the momentum for the rest of the week. »
