The former world champion and current president of the BRDC, Damon Hill, believes that FIA president Max Mosley should reconsider his position following the revelations made about his private life.
Several people have requested not to make any more comments on this case revealed by the press. The FIA boss will have to face a vote of confidence at the beginning of June.
Hill believes that, even setting aside his private life, Mosley should reconsider his position in the interest of the sport’s image.
« None of us want to give moralizing speeches, but the image of sport is an element to consider. The main representative of Formula 1 in the world must continue to deliver a policy based on values, » said Hill in the columns of the Times.
« It’s a practical question, but it’s also a marketing question. »
« Companies associated with sports want a positive image, and politicians want to engage with them because the latter know that the FIA supports these values. »
Despite several calls for his resignation, Mosley has made it clear that he does not plan to resign and stated that he has done nothing wrong.
Mosley will face a vote of confidence during an extraordinary assembly on June 3 in Paris.
