Renault: Source of Disappointment for Fisichella!

Giancarlo Fisichella admits outright that Fernando Alonso has not succeeded in making Renault a competitive team again.

The French team, world champion in 2005 and 2006 with the Spaniard, had a poor 2007 season. A season that went by without Alonso. Some rumors even suggest that Renault’s results last year were a consequence of the absence of the Iberian.

Fisichella, currently with Force India, ended his collaboration with Renault at the end of 2007.

But the tricolor team continues to struggle to compete with the best teams, such as Ferrari or McLaren, but with Alonso in its ranks.

The Spaniard finished fourth in Australia after a chaotic race, eighth in Malaysia, and tenth in Bahrain.

Fisichella claims that his start to the season is well below that of 2007.

« Everyone thought that Fernando Alonso was going to get Renault back on its feet. As evidence, they devoted a lot of time and money to giving him a good car, » said Fisichella on the official Formula 1 website.

In fact, in the first three races of 2007, I achieved better results with Renault than he has so far in 2008.

The Italian admits he did not expect to see Renault so far back on the starting grid.

« I am a little surprised because Renault is a good team with very good people and good resources, so I thought it was going to return to the highest level. »

Fisichella also believes that his arrival at Force India is the logical next step in his career after leaving Renault.

« In fact, I am very happy to be with her because the Force India project was a very promising project. I made the right decision by joining the team. »
