Christijan Albers has been announced as the second driver for the Futurecom TME team. The Dutchman, who already has experience in DTM, secured the last vacant spot for the 2008 season. He will drive a 2006 version Audi A4. He will be the teammate of Katherine Legge.

He is back in the German discipline after three years of racing in Formula 1 with Midland and then Spyker.

The announcement of this return had been awaited for a long time. The driver had already tested for the team on three occasions.

At Futurecom TME, Albers will reunite with his former team director Colin Kolles, who is also the owner of the DTM team.

« Rejoining Colin Kolles was one of the reasons that pushed me to return to DTM. There are also a number of people currently working with the team that I know well since I had the chance to meet them during my career, » said Albers.

« I worked with a lot of these guys for the Bertram Schäfer team in Formula 3, where I won the championship in 1999. »

« I think that working with them will help me in my races and that the results will be felt. I am well aware that it will not be easy at all. »

« Of course, we have some doubts about the car from 2006, but on the other hand, is it wise to do nothing for an entire year?, » commented the Dutchman.

« When I see Ralf Schumacher driving a Mercedes which is also starting to show its age, should I complain about driving a 2006 Audi? This kind of challenge suits me just fine and fighting to get back to the forefront, I’ve done it before. »
