BMW will win GPs in 2008… that’s Ferrari’s opinion

Unlike Ron Dennis, who believes that BMW will not be able to disrupt the duel between Ferrari and McLaren this season, Kimi Räikkönen, for his part, considers it not improbable that the Bavarian team will win at least one Grand Prix in 2008.

The reigning world champion is pleased to have been able to gain an advantage over Robert Kubica’s F1.08 at the very start of the race, otherwise, the Finn would have had to deal with the constant threat of the Pole.

The BMWs were very close. I managed to overtake Kubica when he had some issues, it was a very important moment because his race pace was very good.

« I have always said that this season it will be very hard to gain even a single position. It will be a very long and difficult championship. I wouldn’t be surprised if BMW won a few races this year. »

« There will be some Grand Prix where we will be stronger, and others where they will have an advantage. The same goes for McLaren, which remains very competitive. »

In Bahrain, Kimi Räikkönen was unable to beat his teammate and had to settle for the second step on the podium. The Finn doesn’t like this kind of situation, but the result gives him something to be satisfied with.

« I want to win races and fight for the title. Finishing in second place disappoints me a little, » explains the Scuderia Ferrari driver.

« For one reason or another, the Sakhir circuit doesn’t seem to be very favorable to me. But there are still some satisfactions after this Grand Prix: I am the leader of the drivers’ championship. If we think back to the number of points we earned in Melbourne, it’s an excellent result. »
