Mosley on cloud nine: the scandal is born

The FIA director, Max Mosley, has kept his distance regarding the allegations made against him about potential sexual encounters. It is an English tabloid that reports the information.

The News of the World reports on its front page that Mosley, 67, took part in a sado-masochistic orgy with five prostitutes, involving Nazi role-play. A video is said to be available on the newspaper’s website.

This information has provoked the anger of Jewish organizations, which have called for Mosley’s resignation.

Karen Pollock, executive director of the Holocaust Educational Trust, commented: “This man is sick and depraved. I am absolutely horrified.”

Stephen Smith, director of the Holocaust Centre, added: « Mr. Mosley, who condemned racism in motorsport, must himself live up to the rules he sets. This is an insult to the millions of victims of Nazi repression, to the survivors and their families. He should apologize. He should resign from his position. »

The emotion is also strong for those involved in F1. Stirling Moss from the Times stated: « I don’t see how he can continue to perform his role. I hope he can, frankly, because I think he is very good at what he does. What happens behind the scenes is something that doesn’t concern us, but things like that… It’s a shock. »

The FIA refuses to comment on the matter and believes that this case will be the subject of legal action.

« It’s a matter between Mr. Mosley and the press in question that is putting forward the information, » said a spokesperson for the FIA.

We understand that Mr. Mosley’s lawyers are now in contact with this newspaper and that the FIA has no comment to make.

However, for everyone, Mosley would be on an ejector seat.

The F1 boss, Bernie Ecclestone, who has long been an ally of Mosley, said he was surprised by these allegations but does not believe that these rumors signify Mosley’s irrevocable downfall.

« I have known those times when the wildest rumors stick to you, » he stated to The Times newspaper.

« If someone had told me that without the title, I would have had a hard time believing it. Assuming it’s true, what people do in private is their own business. »

« I do not believe that sports have been affected. »

Mosley is the son of Oswald Mosley, founder of the ‘British Union of Fascists’. Married and father of two children, he has been the president of the FIA since 1993.
