Michael Schumacher finished fourth in his first motorcycle race at Misano on this Sunday, but denied any new career in the sport.
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion took part in a motorcycle race in the KTM series on a 990cc Super Duke.
He qualified in third position and then finished fourth at the end of the race, five seconds behind the winner. His best lap is just one-tenth of a second slower than the fastest lap of the race.
« It was really fun. At the start, I was cautious, that’s why I fell back to 14th place. But fighting on the track is something fantastic, overtaking is magnificent, » said Schumacher.
The German, who remains an advisor and occasional test driver for Ferrari in Formula 1, has downplayed rumors suggesting he is about to start a new career.
« This is not the beginning of a second career. Even if I race from time to time, it’s simply to enjoy my free time by doing things I like. »
« I have no ambition regarding this discipline. I don’t think I have the level to imagine competing in a professional series, » he concluded.
