The organizers of the Singapore Grand Prix have tested the lighting system that will be used for the Formula 1 race next September.
Sixteen spotlights have been temporarily placed along a 64-meter stretch in the city-state on St Andrew’s Street.
These projectors have a power 30 times greater than the standard lighting on the streets of Singapore.
The Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Mr. Iswaran, was impressed by the system.
« From what I have seen, everything looks good to me, » he stated to the Straits Times.
« Under these conditions, I don’t think visibility will be an issue for the pilots. »
The digiflags, that is to say electronic panels that will be used instead of normal flags, have also been tested.
The spotlights will remain in place until the end of next week with a lighting duration of 7 hours each night.
The race will therefore take place in Singapore on September 28 in the streets of the city.
