The new life of Michael Schumacher

The former F1 world champion, Michael Schumacher, has ruled out any possibility of securing a victory just hours before his first motorcycle race, which will take place tomorrow in Italy.

The 39-year-old German, after seven world championship titles and 91 Grand Prix victories that make him the record holder in the field, stated that he is happy to be part of the starting grid in the KTM series. His first race will take place on the Misano circuit in Italy on the Adriatic coast.

« Here, it will be impossible to win because there are runners much more experienced and prepared than me, they are practically professionals. I am just happy to participate, » commented the former Ferrari driver in the columns of the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Schumacher, who tested a Ducati MotoGP at the end of 2006, will ride a 990cc KTM Duke as part of the KTM championship.

Misano will host, a little later this year, a round of the MotoGP championship and the Superbike championship.

« It’s just for fun, no one forced me to do it. Maybe I’ll stop after this race, » he added.

The German, who is also a consultant and test driver for Scuderia Ferrari, has some racing experience on two wheels but not as much as the 400 riders present for this competition weekend.

« Last week in Hungary and the other day in Barcelona were only non-competitive races! »
