Force India Report – The team improves race after race!

A new milestone has been achieved by the modest Indian team, Force India. After very impressive performances in testing, Fisichella, one of the team’s two drivers, finished the Malaysian race in 12th position with 5 cars behind him. Force India is indeed one of those teams that are placed in the middle of the grid.

There is, admittedly, the withdrawal of the second driver, Sutil, due to a hydraulic issue, but the Asian team is on the right track. The next step after testing and the race is achieving a strong performance in qualifying with Q2 as the objective.

Adrian Sutil – Retirement:

« Very early in the race, I realized I had a mechanical problem, had to stop the engine, and withdraw from the race. I am very disappointed with this start to the season, especially after the very brief rendezvous in Melbourne. »

Giancarlo Fisichella – 12th:

« I honestly think that here, we did our best. At the beginning, I lacked grip and as a result, I lost many positions. I don’t know why but the tires greatly concerned us throughout the race.

« During my first stint, I was suffering from graining on the soft tires, but then at my pit stop, I adjusted the front flaps and went on the harder tires and stayed on them for both stints. I am satisfied with our race pace, which is promising for the rest of the season. »

Mike Gascoyne – Technical Director:

« There is something positive at the end of this week, but also something very bad for Adrian. Since the beginning of the weekend, the situation has been difficult for him, but an excellent start and a steady pace allowed us to hope for a bit more leniency. It’s very frustrating that a hydraulic problem came and ruined everything so early in the race. »

Giancarlo had a poor start, but after his first stop, he performed very well with a good race pace. Ultimately, it’s disappointing not to have both cars finish. Overall, I think we can expect a better season compared to previous years.

Vijay Mallya – Co-owner:

« We have demonstrated that the team primarily improved in terms of pace. In 2007, this team was at the back of the grid; this year, we were 0.05 seconds away from reaching Q2. We have improved our best lap in the race by more than two seconds. This is much better than any other team. We have shown that we are now in a position to aim for better than the back of the grid. »

« Unfortunately, Adrian once again had to retire through no fault of his own, which is frustrating. He missed the opportunity to show what he was capable of in racing conditions. Giancarlo had a superb race. I believe that all of this is very promising for the rest of the season. »
