Summary – Saturday – Toyota is in a strong position!

Toyota just had a very good Saturday at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia. After three practice sessions where competitiveness was evident, with a 4th place from Trulli this morning, it was logical to see the Japanese team shine.

She is even in a very good position to earn points tomorrow at the end of the race. Trulli will start 5th, just behind the Ferraris and McLarens and ahead of the two BMWs. His teammate, who is complaining a bit about his tires, will start from the 5th row. He is 10th.

Jarno Trulli – 4th and 3rd (qualified 5th):

« It is, for the moment, a satisfying weekend. We are running without issues, and the car is proving to be performant and competitive. At this stage, we can say the TF108 represents a great advancement compared to last year’s car. We are all, therefore, very satisfied with this result, which is very encouraging for tomorrow’s race. »

« Timo also did an excellent job over the weekend, I am happy for him because two drivers achieving great performances provides a lot of motivation for the whole team. I am even more confident for tomorrow because I have always achieved good results on this track. We just need to make sure to finish the race without issues because I believe the points are within our reach. »

Timo Glock – 10th and 10th:

« I am happy to have participated in Q3 but it was a difficult qualifying for me. In this morning’s free practice, I had a better idea of the options regarding the tires for qualifying, but this afternoon, I really struggled to get the best out of them. »

« But in the end, I did a very good lap and a very good last sector to get into the top ten. Now we must watch the skies but in any situation, it will be difficult for me to make the most of the tires. Hopefully, we can finish in the top ten and score our first points. It would be a good result. »

Pascal Vasselon – Technical Director:

« So far, the weekend has been quite good, including the weather, which was uncertain for today. The threat of rain was present from the start of the day, but conditions remained dry. Jarno’s performance was predictable, and we are very pleased with it. He confirmed the good form shown in yesterday’s free practice, both on a single lap and over longer distances. »

« Timo also did a very good job to participate in Q3, and this for the second time in two races. He is having trouble getting the best out of his front tires. Both compounds are doing well without major issues. »
