The co-owner of Scuderia Toro Rosso, Gerhard Berger, denied all rumors linking his driver Sebastian Vettel with Ferrari for a contract in 2009.
The German driver impresses with his repeated performances with the Italian team. Speculation this week suggested that he could be starting in a Ferrari in 2009, replacing Felipe Massa.
However, Berger made it clear that Vettel will be part of the Red Bull family for at least three years.
« Vettel has a three-year contract with Red Bull and he will be with Red Bull for the next three years, » said Berger in Malaysia.
« He no longer has any connection with BMW, he is 100% with Red Bull. »
Massa, who is the teammate of the reigning world champion Kimi Räikkönen, also spoke on this subject.
« I have a three-year contract and therefore I am very comfortable with this team. Everyone is happy with me within the team. »
« The last race wasn’t fantastic for the drivers and the team. Reliability is the main source of the problem, but it’s not a result that will call everything into question within the team. »
« Currently, everyone is happy, in case you remember, I have a three-year contract, » concluded the Brazilian, a bit curtly!
