Nico Rosberg from Williams stated that the first race on the streets of Singapore promises to be a fantastic event.
But the German admits that a certain number of drivers are worried about the night of September 28th approaching because they have never tested in nighttime conditions.
« Safety is always a concern during an urban race, especially one that will take place under spotlights. Safety at this particular level is still a question, » said the 22-year-old driver.
Rosberg has no idea yet of the difference between driving through the streets at over 300 km/h at night and doing the same thing during the day.
« I can’t tell you the difference because I’ve never driven at night. I’ve never even tried, » he added.
However, the one who finished on his first podium last Sunday in Melbourne is convinced that the F1 authorities will minimize the safety issues as much as possible.
« I am sure that the FIA is doing its job in this area and I think that the Singapore Grand Prix will be a great event. »
Rosberg reflected on his fabulous Australian race, where the Ferraris had a nightmare and numerous retirements were lamentable. He criticizes the regulatory changes that saw traction control disappear. For him, this is the element that caused the chaos in Melbourne.
« I am sure there were a few mistakes. On one lap, Massa made several mistakes, it’s because the driver no longer has this electronic aid. »
