What a disappointment for Kubica!

Robert Kubica expressed a hint of frustration after seeing a number of points slip through his fingers following the Australian Grand Prix.

He started from the first row, right behind the pole man, Hamilton. He could clearly hope for a podium but a strategy change caused by the safety car, a small mechanical problem, and a collision with Kazuki Nakajima dashed his chances in this Grand Prix.

And after being forced to witness the half-triumph of his teammate Nick Heidfeld, who claimed second place behind Lewis Hamilton, Kubica blames fate for preventing him from shining when everything seemed to be going his way.

« I enjoyed the weekend, but if I could have brought a few more points for the team, I would be a bit happier today, » he commented.

« Every time I am able to achieve good results something goes wrong, and this time things went wrong. »

The Pole doesn’t think that his team opted for a one-stop strategy just to disadvantage him but believes that it was indeed this engine problem that led to his downfall.

« The team does the best for the team! And I hope their strategy was the right one. But look at the number of laps I had to cover with these tires, the car was very heavy, so it wasn’t easy. »

« But that wasn’t the biggest problem. The biggest problem was the loss of rhythm. I was particularly slow in acceleration and was losing a lot of time, » added the driver.

Despite its promising start that saw BMW-Sauber match its best result in F1, its driver believes it will take time for the team to become strong enough to challenge McLaren and Ferrari.

« I think we are close to them, but I will wait another one or two Grand Prix to get a better idea. »
