Honda Racing’s team principal, Ross Brawn, believes that his team can expect to finish regularly in the points after their strong performance at the Australian Grand Prix.

The team remained uncertain about its chances of success before this race but has been fully motivated since. Rubens Barrichello could have scored three points but was disqualified for ignoring a red light at the pit exit.

Brawn stated: Even though the result is disappointing, we must look at the positives. Qualifying confirmed that we are in the middle of the grid and a very good performance from Rubens demonstrated that we had the potential to score points.

« It’s pleasing to see that the aerodynamic upgrade carried out in Jerez is paying off as expected. I think we have a good foundation for the next two races until the next stage of our development, which will come with the Spanish Grand Prix. »

In Malaysia, we can have a similar weekend to the one we experienced in Melbourne. We have shown that we have a car with which it is possible to aim for points. Both drivers are very determined to achieve this goal.

Barrichello is equally optimistic about his team’s chances.

« We knew that we had made a step forward during our last pre-season test in Jerez. What we didn’t know was our level compared to the other teams. »

« I am encouraged by this start to the season. I want to thank all the employees in Japan and the United Kingdom for all their work on the car over the past few weeks. I think we are heading towards a positive season. »
