Review of Ferrari – The Red of the Scuderia Turns Blood Red!

Who could have imagined such a situation? Certainly, Räikkönen started from far back, but his comeback was supposed to be just a matter of time, and Massa was comfortably settled in 4th place on the starting grid.

And in the end, only 1 point, obtained with the retirement of both drivers! An engine problem for Räikkönen and an accident for Massa. The Scuderia hadn’t accustomed us to such a debacle on their part for a very long time. No doubt that the time for revenge would not be delayed…

Kimi Räikkönen – 8th:

« It’s really disappointing not to finish the race, but scoring one point is better than nothing. I had an engine problem, the reason still needs to be determined. The car was good, and I had a good pace when I found a clear track in front of me. »

« Twice, I had a few scares, the first time with Glock, I put a wheel on the grass, and the second time with Kovalainen where I was a bit too optimistic. The season is very long, and we are aware that it is possible to recover from much worse situations than today’s. »

Felipe Massa – Retirement:

« A horrible start to the season. We had unusual engine problems for a team like ours. We need to understand what happened and react immediately. »

« The incident with Coulthard? I was on the inside and he closed the door on me, probably because he hadn’t seen me. The championship should be relaunched in Malaysia. We know we have a good car, we have to work to be able to use it as was intended. »

Stefano Domenicali – Ferrari F1 Director:

« It has certainly been one of our worst season starts. However, we must not react too emotionally to this. We need to work on what happened to the F2008 engines by sending them immediately to Maranello for analysis. »

« As for the performance, it was there since when the drivers were not in traffic, the pace was very competitive. This shows our potential, but we need to exploit it. We need to roll up our sleeves and react because we know what we’re capable of. »

Luca Baldisserri – Technical Director:

There isn’t much to say about this disastrous start to the season. We don’t have good results at all levels. We know the importance of reliability, and it has been sorely lacking.

We need to examine all the details of this weekend to understand what went wrong and how we can improve. We have seen the technical potential of each team, and we will have to fight from the next qualifiers.
