Mike Coughlan, the chief designer who was with McLaren-Mercedes last year when the espionage affair broke out, has had his contract terminated by the British team.
Coughlan had been suspended from his duties by the Woking team since documents belonging to Ferrari were found at his home last July.
Although McLaren had to pay, among other things, a $100 million fine when the truth of this story was demonstrated, Coughlan was only suspended at the time.
Certain sources claim that the former designer could not be fired by McLaren due to legal issues.
However, top executives have confirmed the termination of his contract.
Coughlan recently met with the FIA to explain his role in this matter and, after publicly apologizing to Ferrari, he was banned from the world of motorsports until July 2009.
