Jenson Button confirms the importance of Ross Brawn at Honda. The team’s new technical director, formerly with Ferrari and having joined at the end of 2007, will, according to him, enable further and further progress!

According to the English driver, his mood has never been so high since his debut in F1. The difficult year he experienced last year may be prompting Button to be nothing but optimistic, with the worst likely behind him.

Consequently, he doesn’t even regret his 2004 year still with Honda, where the team finished 3rd in the constructor’s championship.

I may not be in a single-seater capable of scoring points during the first races, but I am very optimistic and have never been this happy in the team, even including 2004.

Button also admitted that he was not happy last year, but with all the efforts made by Honda since the team’s setbacks, the Briton, who was a darling in his country before Hamilton’s arrival, is increasingly regaining confidence in Honda.

« Last year, we first became aware of our difficulties, then we set our objectives, and now we have deployed our forces, with the hiring of new people, for example. I have always thought that Honda is capable of great things, so I want to stay with them, but sometimes, I wasn’t necessarily happy to be in this single-seater, » continues the Englishman.

« The management understood their mistakes and is showing it by hiring guys like Ross Brawn or a new chief aerodynamicist… I look forward to seeing the results that these efforts will produce once they mature. »

Button even gives in this interview with an English newspaper enough to understand the new approach of his team, and especially that of Brawn.

« We have a much stronger direction than before while remaining pleasant. Brawn never shouts, but every time he speaks, he is listened to, and you can clearly see that he manages to bring out the best in the staff at his disposal! »

« He looked for the team’s weak points, and we focused on them. He really has the ability to improve things. » Concluded Jenson Button.
