Toyota’s Winter Review by … Ralf Schumacher!

Ralf Schumacher declares having enjoyed his time with the Toyota team in Formula 1 despite the lack of success over the three years.

The German driver joined Toyota in 2005 with the firm intention of helping the Japanese team secure a spot at the top of the grid.

This never happened and Schumacher only achieved three podiums in 53 Grand Prix before deciding to move to DTM, as F1 was not an option for him in 2008.

Despite the lack of results, Schumacher admits, in retrospect, that he had a great time with Toyota.

« I liked that period. There are many people with whom I have stayed in contact. Apart from a few strange management decisions, it’s a great team, » declared the German.

The start of the winter tests wasn’t very good, but in Barcelona, the team made real progress. I hope it will be able to achieve something serious this year, I wish them good luck.

The younger brother of the seven-time world champion admitted not being interested in F1 testing like Michael does for Ferrari.

« For Michael, it’s ideal. Ferrari is his family. He can come to Spain, have dinner and a glass of wine with the team, and the next day, he completes 100 laps without any pressure. Everything is going well for him. I wouldn’t want to do it and at the moment, I don’t have the time, » continued the 32-year-old driver.

He finally conducted a quick analysis of the main forces present at the beginning of the season.

« Scuderia Ferrari will be ahead. McLaren could get closer. Melbourne will not be the real test; it will be the week after in Malaysia. »

« Behind the two big ones (!), it is really interesting. Renault, BMW, Red Bull, and Williams have done, I think, a very good job over the winter. »
