On the occasion of the Mexico Rally, the competitors of the World Rally Championship showed their support for the FIA’s environmental campaign ‘Make Cars Green’.
The drivers and co-pilots posed for a group photo to officially show their support for the FIA’s action, while assuring that they will get involved in other events during the 2008 season.
Make Cars Green is an international campaign aimed at reducing the impact of automobiles on the environment. The campaign encourages driving practices that reduce fuel consumption, the development of new technologies in the area of engines, the improvement of tire design, and the global use of fuel that is free of lead and sulfur.
Furthermore, the FIA has invited the UN to define a global CO2 emissions target for passenger cars.
FIA President Max Mosley stated: « It is an immense satisfaction to see that motorsport competitors are joining the FIA’s action to sustain the place of the automobile in society. This help will be invaluable in our mission to make ecology rhyme with mobility worldwide. »
