The organizers of the French Grand Prix have stated that no decision will be made regarding the new race location before the end of the season, with the event taking place for the last time at Magny-Cours.
Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has stated that he would like to see a race in Paris in the fairly near future.
But Nicolas Deschaux, the head of the French automobile sport federation, the FFSA, said that he will not consider the various options before the end of 2008.
« There has been a lot of talk about the French Grand Prix in 2009. It is not new that Mr. Ecclestone is advocating for an event in Paris, but as of now, nothing is finalized regarding next year, » explained Deschaux to the AFP news agency.
« Once the 2008 race is over, we can open up and think about the future. So yes, we need a site for the French Grand Prix because we will not return to Magny-Cours. »
