The Williams team has unveiled the 2008 colors that will make it a unique team.
The British team used six different single-seaters during winter testing to try to see which one will be the most performant throughout the year.
The colors of the FW30 powered by Toyota were only revealed today, less than two weeks before the start of the season in Australia.
Williams impressed during winter testing with its new car. The co-owner of the team, Patrick Head, admitted to hoping to give Ferrari and McLaren a hard time in some races.
« We don’t really have a specific goal with this or that team. We just try to do the best we can. Ferrari won the championship last year, so of course, that’s our target, » he stated.
« Obviously, I would be disappointed if we don’t manage to make Ferrari and McLaren doubt themselves at least once during the course of this year. But both teams seem to be in great shape for this start of the season. »
« BMW, I think, had some issues setting up their single-seater, but those seem to be behind them now, and I believe their cars will be fast. »
« Red Bull seems pretty good, but it has been immobilized in the pits a few times. Renault has made encouraging progress and I’m sure it will be better than last year. But all these teams are, for me, below the pace set by Ferrari and McLaren, » added Head.
After analyzing a few teams, he believes it is very difficult to predict a hierarchy behind Ferrari and McLaren but he is convinced that Williams has taken a step forward since the end of 2007.
« It is very difficult to say exactly where we stand because some of the cars have also made very good progress. »
« So, for now, the situation is a bit unclear, but things will become clearer when we arrive in Malaysia. »
He concluded by saying: « We know we have a more performant car than last year and that this one is much more stable. »
