Gabriele Tarquini made up for his mistake during the first race of the day in Curitiba, Brazil by winning the second race of the 2008 season, which has just begun. For Seat, the Italian was ahead. Yvan Muller, the winner of the first race, is 5th.

Less at ease than Yvan Muller and Rickard Rydell a few hours earlier during the first competition, Gabriele Tarquini (SEAT) responded in the best possible way by winning the second race at the Curitiba circuit on Sunday. The partner of the French and Swedish drivers once again displayed the power of the SEAT TDI by beating Andy Priaulx, who had been very discreet in recent days. Tarquini thus secured his fourth victory in WTCC and treated himself to a nice birthday present for his 46th birthday, being the oldest in the category.

The Italian still had to contain Priaulx’s assaults until the end. The reigning world champion, starting 4th on the reversed grid, eliminated Félix Porteiro (BMW Italy-Spain) five laps before the finish before attacking Tarquini, unfortunately without success. “I want to thank the whole team for all the work done this weekend. We improved progressively over the weekend, and I’m happy with the result,” he reflected. The man from Guernsey could still be satisfied with the operations in terms of points.
