The investigation by the Italian judiciary is still ongoing regarding last year’s espionage case. McLaren confirmed this evening that several members and leaders of the English team had been questioned today in the United Kingdom.
The FIA had found McLaren guilty last October, but the federation not having enough authority, the Italian justice system is still pursuing its investigations. Last month, four top executives of the Woking team were invited to be questioned by judges in Italy. After the cancellation of these meetings, it was ultimately the judges who decided to travel to Great Britain.
Ron Dennis, director of the McLaren team, along with his principal right-hand man, Martin Whitmarsh, were visited at their homes by several members of the judiciary at the request of Ferrari and the magistrates of Modena. Two other members were searched, and the factory was also inspected.
« Today, McLaren Racing continued its cooperation with the investigation initiated by the Magistrate of Modena. »
« The Italian court police, accompanied by investigators, visited some of the leading members of McLaren. A similar action was carried out at the McLaren Technology Centre. »
« The police are fully satisfied with the cooperation of the members. These actions are part of a normal judicial process in the context of the ongoing investigation and are supported by McLaren Racing. » the statement confirms.
