Aguri Suzuki is having discussions alongside senior Honda executives in front of potential investors to secure the future of his team.

Super-Aguri faced a difficult winter with financial problems forcing them to reduce their testing program. The team was forced to withdraw from this week’s Barcelona tests at the last minute due to their current situation.

Repeated absences from these events, just days before the first F1 Grand Prix in Australia, are fueling rumors that Super-Aguri might not be able to maintain its position as an F1 team and might never start the season…

The talks currently taking place in Tokyo are of key importance for the future of the team.

Some sources mention three or four possible agreements with investors. It is now up to Suzuki to decide among these different investors to choose the best equity buyout and the most beneficial for the team.

Super-Aguri must also consider the extent of the help that Honda can provide. The latter has financed the team since its entry into F1 in 2006.

The leaders of Honda could self-finance the struggling Japanese team, especially since in the coming years, the team will have to start getting used to the idea of becoming a straightforward manufacturer.

The team is currently awaiting information from Japan regarding Suzuki’s plans for its future. Therefore, the staff needs to be patient before resuming work in preparation for the Barcelona tests next week.
