The BMW-Sauber team completed its three-day test on the Valencia circuit on Thursday with three drivers on track.
Christian Klien, who joined the two full-time drivers for 2008, Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica, made his debut at the wheel of the F1.08.
The Austrian drove in the morning on a wet track, while Heidfeld and Kubica joined him in the afternoon when the sun appeared.
« Aside from Thursday afternoon, the weather conditions have been far from perfect during these three days, » said technical director Willy Rampf.
« This unpredictable weather made the engineers’ work difficult. Nevertheless, it was an important and positive step for the team. »
We were able to complete a race simulation with two cars, including pit stops, with no particular problems to report. This underscores the high level of reliability of the new car. In addition, we tested some new parts under development.
« We will carry out more work on the setup of the F1.08 next week during the last test event in Barcelona before the first Grand Prix in Australia, » he concluded.
