For the first time since the creation of the WTCC – World Touring Car Championship, a Turkish team will compete for an entire season, specifically in 2008.

Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport will be represented by a BMW 320si (gasoline), driven by the 2007 winner of the Turkish Touring Championship, namely Ibrahim Okyay.

Aged 38 and originally from Istanbul, he has won six national titles. He is not unknown in the WTCC as he participated in 2006 in the Turkish round held at Istanbul Park, where he succeeded in taking third place in the Independents’ Trophy.

The team will present a turquoise livery from March 3rd in Curitiba for the first round of the 2008 WTCC season.

« We plan to field a second car in a few European rounds of the WTCC, » revealed the team’s manager, Aydýn Ural.
