Filippi will aim for podiums for the rest of the season!

After a disappointing first GP2 Asia weekend for Lucas Filippi, the Italian hopes to achieve at least a podium finish this weekend at Sentul for the Indonesian event on the calendar.

For the first race of the season, the young Italian, a test driver in Formula 1, finished 4th in race 1 and retired in the second due to gearbox issues. At this stage of the competition, he is already 15 points behind Romain Grosjean, the leader, and aims to do better.

« I want to be one of the top three in the next four championship events, starting with Indonesia this weekend. » He declared.

Filippi, who recently secured a role as a test driver for Honda, was motivated by his perceived pace in Dubai: « I had never raced there before but I felt confident and it is very disappointing to have had to retire when I could have secured a podium… »

With his team Qi-Meritus, the Italian recently conducted tests in Sepang, Malaysia, where the third round of the Asian season will take place. After that, only two rounds will remain before the start of the GP2 Series season.
