Bahrain – Day 3 – Massa takes power in extremist

Felipe Massa brilliantly set his pace during the third and final day of testing on Bahraini soil. The Brazilian, driving a Ferrari, outpaced Timo Glock in the Toyota. It is the first time the Japanese team has been able to place one of its cars in the top two positions of the rankings.

The F2008 did not experience major reliability issues today, unlike the previous day, allowing Massa to take the advantage over his teammate after 5 days of Räikkönen’s domination. With 85 laps, the Finnish world champion is third but only two-tenths behind his teammate.

Despite generally slower lap times than during that weekend on the Sakhir circuit, Glock shows good progress for Toyota by inserting himself between the two Ferraris.

« It was a good day for us, » commented Glock. « We did a lot of work on the setups and I tried several new elements at the end of the session. We can really be satisfied with the results. I would like to say thank you to everyone. They are all working hard to make progress. »

« We did a lot of long runs today, focusing on reliability, and it was quite successful. These tests were important and we are satisfied with them. » Concluded the German.

Jarno Trulli is also satisfied with his day’s work after covering 86 laps: « We had another good day, covering a great distance and we’ll be able to look at a lot of data now. »
