The organizers of the Rally of Poland, which will take place for the first time in the World Rally Championship – WRC – have announced a small surprise for the spectators.

The 2009 WRC Rally of Poland will indeed have several super-special stages available in a brand-new stadium, allowing two pairs of cars to race simultaneously. All this aims to provide twice the spectacle for its spectators and make a strong impression against the competition from other countries.

The new stadium is expected to start taking shape at the end of February to be completed in January 2009 and host the WRC under good conditions for the month of June.

Andrzej Witkowski, the Polish president of the automotive and motorcycle federation declared: « The new site will make life even more difficult for the competition. For spectators and rally enthusiasts, it will also be an excellent way to admire the talents of our best European and global drivers. »

Witkowski also confirmed that the event will continue to be based in Mikolajki, a town in the northeast of the country, until 2014.

With the alternation system, the Rally of Poland will not be present on the 2010 calendar. The gravel stage hopes to convince the WRC organizers with this new venue to regain its place on the 2011 calendar.
