Alain Menu is optimistic about his chances of winning the driver’s title this 2008 season.

The Chevrolet driver was in private testing last week at Estoril with the new version of the Chevrolet Lacetti, which he will officially drive on March 2nd, at Curitiba for the first round of the 2008 WTCC championship; In Brazil.

« We must fight for the top of the championship from the start of the season, » stated Menu.

« With this new Lacetti, we achieve good lap results, but from now on we can only expect improvements on the order of hundredths per lap, not tenths… »

The car used in Estoril by Alain Menu, although the final version for the 2008 season, would still need a new engine due to the tightening of regulations by the FIA.

The V08 engines are still being assembled, but due to the lower air compression ratio, for example, they will be much less powerful during the upcoming tests in the United Kingdom. Nicola Larini and Robert Huff, the two teammates of the Swiss driver, will be present.

« These are new cars that we are testing here, although still with the 2007 engine, » said Larini. « However, the entire 2008 package still needs to be installed. These days, we have been mainly busy validating new parts, particularly in terms of suspension and differential. »

« For the moment, we have not had any reliability problems, so I am quite confident about the continuation of the program. » concluded the Chevrolet driver.
