The new test driver for the Subaru WRT team in the World Rally Championship, Marko Martin, has been very satisfied so far with the new car.

Martin completed nearly 1000 km of gravel testing in Sardinia with the future 2008 Subaru Impreza, in addition to tests already conducted in Norway.

« The tests are very promising, and even though it is obviously too early to comment on the performance, the team and I have learned a lot about the car, allowing us to make the right decisions at this still early stage. » He commented yesterday.

« It’s a great feeling for me to be back with a former team. I was here in 2001 and since my return I’ve seen familiar faces. Others are new, but one thing is very important here: everyone speaks the same language. Whether it’s for integration or understanding about the car, it’s fantastic. »

The 2008 WRC is highly anticipated for the team to raise the level of performance, which has been very low for the past two years. The team has been preparing this Impreza, new in design (without a trunk, for example), for a year and plans to enter it in the WRC rally mid-season.

« It is a very important car for the team and for Subaru, and it is a privilege to be associated with this project. Driving a new car involves having new sensations and, above all, very good ones. Moreover, I am really very happy to soon start the next phase of development, which will focus on performance. » Concluded the Estonian.
