The team present in the GP2 and GP2asia series, Arden, has announced that it has chosen its last driver to complete its 2008 line-up. It will be Yelmer Buurman.
The F3 Euro Series driver conducted tests with the team this week in Dubai. In these tests, he appeared very skilled and convinced the team. Indeed, he signed a two-year contract with the Dutch team.
The general manager, Christian Horner, admitted to being convinced by his potential: « After two days of very productive testing in Dubai, we are pleased to announce Yelmer as the second driver in the GP2 series. After careful consideration, he stood out as the obvious candidate for the vacant seat. »
After following his progress with interest in the F3 Euro Series championship, I am certain that Yelmer [Buurman] can promise us a solid season!
Buurman, who finished sixth in the F3 Euro Series championship in 2007, was also impressed by the GP2 single-seaters manufactured by Renault. He has already set his goals.
« I am absolutely convinced that I am a good asset for the team. I would be really disappointed if I do not achieve podiums frequently in 2008. »
