The members of the ‘Touring Cars’ committee have set the directions to take for the 2008 season. The FIA experts aimed during this meeting to stay in line with the current regulations while offering more high-performance cars and the possibility for more drivers to register as privateers.
Among other things, several strict measures have been taken. They particularly concern diesel cars. Thus, as we mentioned a few days ago, TDi engines will be indirectly penalized since the car will no longer have a floor.
The engines will also be more controlled thanks to a lower ratio of air injected at each cycle, as well as a device for measuring oil pressure, which must decrease.
The following decisions have been made and will be effective after February 15th, the final date for driver registrations for the 2008 season.
THE CARS
These different elements will be renewed:
– Alfa Romeo 156: largeur de la voie (27.07.2006)
– BMW E46 320i: moteur VO (10.05.2005)
– BMW E90 320si: transmission VO (30.03.2006); capot, échappement Version (02.02.2007)
– Chevrolet Lacetti: suspension, ailes, tête de cylindre Version (30.03.2006); largeur de la voie (27.07.2006); essieu avant, tête de cylindre, carter à huile Version (30.04.2007); sous-structure avant Version (23.05.2007)
– Honda Accord Euro R: moteur Version (30.03.2006)
– Peugeot 407: barre anti-roulis (21.07.2005)
– Seat León: carter à huile, amortisseurs, échappement Version (22.08.2005); fond plat (30.03.2006)

– Chevrolet Lacetti: moteur Version (30.03.2006)
THE BALLASTS
These various elements will be renewed:
– Chevrolet Lacetti: – 20 kg
– Seat León 2.0 TFSI: – 25kg
These different elements will not be renewed:
– voitures à traction-avant: – 20 kg (26.07.2007)
– voitures à traction-arrière: – 15 kg (03.04.2007)
– Seat León: – 25 kg (26.07.2007)
THE TECHNIQUE
– Ratio compression moteur 13:1: cet élément ne sera pas renouvelé
– moteurs diesel: installation d’un appareil contrôlant la suralimentation, la pression d’huile et rapport air/carburant
– Seat León TDI: Les fonds plat seront interdits
