Jonathan Summerton, the driver of the American team, was accused of refueling too late during his first stop.
Indeed, the rule for race 2 stipulates that two pit stops during the 70-minute race are mandatory. The first must be made between the 8th and 16th lap, and according to the stewards, the USA reportedly pitted on the 17th lap…
To do this, Uncle Sam’s team was given 70 seconds of penalties, causing them to lose the 3 points for 8th place and drop to 14th position.
