New Zealand claimed victory at home during the first race of the weekend at the Taupo circuit…

The A1 Team New Zealand achieved a historic first victory at home on the Taupo circuit. It is indeed the first time a team has won at home during the Sprint race…

Once the start was given, Johnny Reid in pole position only had to manage his lead ahead of the South African Adrian Zaugg.

After an incident-free lap, Switzerland and Malaysia collided, leaving a lot of debris on the track. The safety car made its appearance. Néel Jani and Alex Yoong retired immediately.

At the restart, after four laps under the safety car, the German Christian Vietoris managed to take the advantage over Adrian Zaugg. South Africa is virtually on the podium before Loic Duval for France attacks as well and takes third place.

Adrian Zaugg finishes 4th, ahead of the Netherlands and Ireland. Néel Jani, who was leading the standings, loses his championship lead with his retirement.
