The former French Formula 1 driver, Jean Alesi, shared his perspective on Renault’s future results in 2008.
According to the now Speed Car series (Asia) driver, Alonso’s return to Renault should allow for a return to podium finishes and even victories. However, he does not envision Renault winning the Constructors’ title again in 2008 and remains cautious.
« They learned a lot from what happened last season. Moreover, they have the same engineers as during their initial successes [in 2005 and 2006], and they are really determined to return to the top level. » Commented the former Benetton Renault driver at the Autosport Show.
« I am convinced that Fernando [Alonso]’s return with all his power and motivation will help Renault. Unfortunately, McLaren and Ferrari have a huge advantage over the other teams, and the title will be complicated. However, I am sure they can win races. » He continued.
