PKV Racing team recently announced that they have selected Oriol Servia to compete on the circuits during the 2008 Champ Car World Series season.
The Spanish driver, who raced two Grand Prix with the team at the end of 2007, after already spending an entire year as a full-time driver the previous season, is the first driver to be confirmed by PKV.
« I am very happy to have the opportunity to continue with PKV Racing, » exclaimed the enthusiastic 33-year-old man. « I know the team well and it is mutual. »
« It will be only the second time in my career that I will participate in a championship with a team in which I have already been a driver for an entire year. »
I have the feeling that the relationship we established in the past – between the team and myself – will be very important this new season. The competition will indeed be very tough in 2008, and this experience will be a great asset.
The co-owner of the team, Jimmy Vasser, added: « We believe that having Oriol compete will give us the best chance to position ourselves well in this championship. »
Oriol, who is not only one of the most experienced drivers in the series but also one of the best, is also a good friend. This understanding will be essential this season.
The team will conduct private tests in a few weeks to select their second driver.
