Paul Tracy, Champ Car champion in 2003, was long threatened this off-season with losing his position as a full-time driver.

Indeed, after a mediocre season with only one victory and finishing in 11th place, rumors suggested Franck Perrera as a new driver for the team. However, one seat is still available, possibly two, if the Forsythe team, recently merged with RuSport, fields three cars in 2008.

Gerry Forsythe, the team director, spoke to the SpeedTV channel a few weeks ago and expressed his desire to stay with Tracy next season.

« It was a very good union, » Tracy has since commented when discussing her contract with the team for 2008. « We discussed certain things,

Hence our determination to win the title next season.

« I went to meet him expecting the worst, but Garry Forsythe never mentioned my situation or my contract. »

The 39-year-old man won his only title with the American team during his first season. Since then, he believes they have been perpetually outpaced compared to their rivals.

« When I joined this team, Gerry gave me everything I needed, I asked for it and we won the title, » he added. « Since then, things have not been going as well. »

« Gerry clearly admitted to being certain that he could reconnect with success in 2008. That’s why I’m eager to get back on the circuits. »

Tracy should therefore repeat next season with the team. So there is still at least one spot available, possibly for the Frenchman Perrera.
