The Chevrolet team officially announced its line-up this Monday for the next season in the WTCC – World Touring Car Championship.
For their 5th consecutive season in the discipline, since their arrival, their trio of drivers will remain unchanged. It will therefore consist of Alain Menu, Nicolas Larini, and Rob Huff.
Eric Neve, creator and director of Chevrolet Motorsport, stated: « We are confident that having Alain, Nicolas, and Rob on board in 2008 will be one of the reasons for our future successes next year. »
« The decision about a line-up is never simple. That is why we took our time. We considered all the elements. »
Alain Menu, who won five races in 2007, believes that he is now truly able to fight for the drivers’ title with the team.
« When you have achieved five pole positions and won five races in a season, the only thing you want to do is maintain the level you have already reached, » commented the Swiss.
« I am sure that the new car will be even better than this year [2007], so my goal for 2008 is to win the title. » he clearly announces.
Nicolas Larini, who hasn’t won for the team in 5 years, added: « I am certain that stability within the team will bring many more victories for Chevrolet in 2008. »
« We have all been there from the beginning, from the moment we were there to bring something… the choice seemed logical. »
Finally, Robert Huff, who finished the season brilliantly after a more complicated start in 2007, summed up: « I think it’s fair to say that in 2008, each of us will try to fight for the title. »
« We know what it takes to win races now, so all we have to do is stick together to achieve a strong season. Thus, for Macao 2008, in November, we could well be three blue drivers fighting for the title! »
Andy Priaulx and Yvan Muller, respectively the champion and vice-champion of WTCC in 2007, will be opponents who meet Chevrolet’s expectations this season.
