Niki Lauda named Nelson Piquet Jr as the Rookie of the Year 2008.
The three-time world champion, who still follows Grand Prix events as a commentator for German television, has studied the potential of the young Brazilian, as well as those of three other recruits who will be on the starting grid in Melbourne next year.
