Brawn: « The tests largely satisfy Schumacher »

Michael Schumacher will be the happiest man by continuing to test Ferrari’s single-seaters in the coming years, affirmed his former technical director Ross Brawn.

Schumacher has been the subject of rumors predicting his return to racing since he began winter testing with Ferrari. It was first in Barcelona in November where he was very impressive, then in Jerez in December.

His performance during the Race of Champions (ROC) earlier in the month, where he finished second with his teammate Mattias Ekstrom, also showed that Schumacher hadn’t lost any of the speed he demonstrated in the past in F1.

But Brawn, who worked alongside the German and contributed to his winning of seven world titles, genuinely believes that Schumacher will be content with testing for Ferrari.

« Michael likes driving a car. Right now, that’s what he’s doing and that’s what he enjoys doing, » said Brawn, currently the team director of Honda Racing.

« What I know about him allows me to assert that he certainly enjoys driving but that developing a car and contributing to this evolution also satisfies him. »

« I don’t know if he misses racing, but he enjoys the exchange of ideas with engineers to always bring a better car. So, I think even a role as a test driver is quite rewarding for him, » he stated.

« He will probably never leave Ferrari. He remains very close to the team. »
